Many people try to find an extra income during bad economic times. If you are finding that you pay more out than you have coming in this is one reason. On the other hand it might be because someone in your family has been made redundant and you need to supplement their income. There are many options you can choose to get some extra money coming in without the struggle to get back into a full time office job.
One of the best ways to bring a generous amount of extra money into the household is to transform your home into a Bed and Breakfast. Some people will set up a B&B in a rural location when they get tired of city living and can afford a bigger house in the country. If you are lucky enough to already live in a sizeable house then there is no need to move and in fact the rooms might already be well set-up to be made into paid accommodation.
The Bed and breakfast industry is a £1.7 billion business in Britain, so it seems that there has never been a better time to get in on the action. You need to make sure that you have all the facilities which modern travellers demand, such as en-suite bathrooms and King size duvet cover sets for the larger beds. Very few tourists will settle for single beds and communal bathrooms in this day and age.
There is a list that needs to be checked before you can start a B&B in your home however. First of all, make sure your house is situated in a place that has enough visitors to need another B&B or one at all. You also need to check with your local council that you have permission to use your home as a bed and breakfast instead of just a private home. You also need to have a house that is big enough to fit two or three bedrooms as a minimum in order for you to earn enough out of the venture. And of course you need to have enough savings for the health and safety installations like fore doors and extinguishers.
But above all, you need to ensure that you and your family will have enough space to live comfortable whilst the rest of your house is being used by your paying guests. You do not want to be squeezed into two rooms for the whole year whilst the rest of your house is being used by other people.
