Antarctica: Seeing The Continent From A Different Perspective

The latest voyage of this ninety-one year-old traveler brought her to Antarctica. Seeing Antarctica with her own two eyes was extremely important to her. This was her first sighting of Antarctica, though she?d been to its continent two times prior. According to our tourist, the plane never landed, but they certainly traveled over it.

As she flew above Antarctica for four hours, she was able to see glaciers, fjords, and mountain peaks. The pilot took the plane down to 300 feet above the ground. The plane’s passengers were able to see a mountain covered in fog.The flight had perfect weather; it was clear and the sun was shining. The airs were very cold, sub-freezing, even though the March flight took place during the Antarctic Summer. One scientist, a naturalist who researched on the continent was the tour guide and lecturer on board. You’ll get further resources on antarctic cruises by visiting there.

The 91 year-old really wished she could see penguins during her flight over Antarctica. Her daughter, also a passenger on the flight, spied some penguins far in the distance, though she was unable to see any. A cruise ship took them to the Falkland Islands, which are right by Argentina. She was finally able to see hundreds of Magellan penguins when she reached the East Island of the Falklands. She had to take a smaller boat there. Of all the penguin species on earth, Magellans stand the tallest.

They flew from the United States for sixteen hours. Then they left a South American city on the cruise ship. South American ports were visited, and then the crew asked them to take a dip in the ship?s pool. Ignoring the air temperatures of 35 degrees, the ninety-one year old took to the water. She got a certificate for having done so.

They then docked in Chile, drove to Santiago, and flew to Rio. The three week-long cruise offered excellent weather. The crisp night air afforded them views of the Southern Cross, a notoriously difficult constellation to see. You can get the best antarctic cruise ship information by visiting this website.

She?d been to South American prior to this trip. Our ninety-one year-old tourist centered her visit on a major river cruise and one big city. Seeing the loss of bird habitat and mess of deforestation around that major river bothered our ninety-one year-old traveler. Having traveled to Africa to see her friends, she took a Safari. A previous trip to left Antarctica as the final continent to tour. Antarctica was conquered with a four hour flight.
