Traveling can bring you little or no or as much as you can possibly imagine. All this depends on how open the mind and heart are and how adventurous your spirit.

After selling our home and most of its contents, we left for any two-year adventure traveling and exploring some of the many great places with this wonderful planet, a world stuffed with history, stunning scenery, adventures and unique, friendly and generous people. Our mode of travel varied based on the places we were exploring. We traveled by car in a 6-month journey in Europe.

For our Traveler’s Journal presentation, we target four beautiful and diverse countries: the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia.

The Czech Republic has numerous great cities and towns but the two we enjoyed one of the most were Prague and Cesky Krumlov. The thing that separates Prague (the Paris of the East) from most other European cities is that it survived for the most part undamaged from World War II.

It seems every street you walk is lined with even more beautiful old buildings as opposed to previous one. The Czechs take great pride to maintain this beauty. This city, filled with cafes, endless boutique shopping and many other things, is a must.

Cesky Krumlov is a town inside south of the country surrounded by an attractive flowing river. Its great charm and friendly people, and its picture postcard streets from another time, managed to get a favorite.

Next stop: Budapest, Hungary. Originally the three separate cities of Buda, Pest and Obuda were divided with the river Danube. The three became Budapest in 1873. Although Hungary was one of the most difficult country in Europe for people to travel because of the language, the friendly people went out of their way to help as well as the language never became a good deal of problem. Once again, if beautiful buildings filled with history, magnificent spas once used by only the wealthy of Europe along with a great city for exploring by walking is for you, we highly recommend adding Budapest to your Bucket List. We walked for five days and could have spent another five easily.

Our time in Slovenia and Croatia came by accident because part of our travel plans included lacking a set itinerary. We wanted the flexibility to stay or leave for the way we liked places.

After about fourteen days in Austria, the weather turned bad as well as the forecast showed more of the same, so we decided to cut our time there short. We visited an Internet cafe to find a place with better weather for the next three weeks. Croatia it was!

Our main focus was Croatia, nevertheless the great thing about travel is not only the destination nevertheless the journey as well. As we entered Slovenia we knew we’ve got to stay a few days and explore the stunning scenery. Bled, once a retreat for many parts of Europe because of its beauty and spas, was obviously a spectacular setting. Once again we had found another place we might come back to. Croatia declared independence in 1991 and contains been growing and upgrading since.

We traveled through Split in addition to the many islands to visit, Hvar and Korcula looked good to us. We’d great weather, beautiful beaches, small-town island charm and extremely friendly people. The ferries between islands were great; the price tag on everything still was very inexpensive compared to other areas in the Adriatic and Mediterranean. Returning to these islands is at the top of our list.

From these relaxing tranquil islands we tripped to the walled city of Dubrovnik. What a history this excellent city has! Walking around, seeing the injury inflicted just a few years ago, was sad but amazing.

The city wall has protected Dubrovnik and its particular people since the ninth century. While weapons have changed from old siege weapons towards the latest of bombs, mortars and missiles, the wall as well as the city endure. It’s incredible to take into account. Walking around the city both below and also on the wall is forever etched within our memories, writes tagza.

Kornati is one hundred islands of untouched outback. Add the towns of Sibenik, Zadar, Muter Skradin with the first night in the amazing town of Split and you have a vacation like no other. With time for exploration on the lay days which follow each transit day with our now famous mixture of social non-spinnaker races and the formula is complete.

Hvar, Korcula and Dubrovnik are referred to as icons for first time visitors to Croatia, and with sound reason. Sailors typically start their journey in Split and head south. However a completely new Croatia awaits to the north and this new rally uncovers the wonderful highlights of this particular bit of Dalmatia.

Historic Sibenik, at the southern end of the rally route, sits on an intensive inlet of the Adriatic, which winds its way for 10 navigable miles inland to Skradin and the Krka State Park. Here spectacular waterfalls already attract travellers but the trip up the Sibenik Canal and back equals the falls themselves as an experience.

A highlight in Sibenik is the cathedral, which took one-hundred years to build and with no mortar to hold it all together! The old town is soaked in history and the fortifications that overlook modern day Sibenik offer superb views across the harbor to the sea .

Murter, Vodice and Tribunj, a little to the north, are beach hamlets offering wonderful facilities for visiting mariners. Restaurants line the shores, there are bars a lots, many offering live music to the night owls, and the close by islets of Zlarin, Prvic and Kaprije are attractions in their own right.

George Bernard Shaw wrote, ‘on the last day of Creation God desired to crown his work and therefore made the Kornati Islands out of tears, stars and breathe’. One hundred islands in the twenty mile long chain dot an azure sea.

Spectacular cliffs face the setting sun whilst sheltered anchorages punctuate the eastern shores. The landscape is stark and lunar like, but overwhelming nonetheless. While some bays offer trattorias, most have the kind of quietude which will make a goat bell audible at 1,000 metres!

With fifty or so partakers the rally, like other Mariner events, will have its own social momentum, which folk can be a part of or separate from to the extent that they choose. So if solitude is not on your agenda it’s easy enough to make a party. This of course is the case through the whole rally but there will be an expectancy of participation in the final night party at which each crew is offered the opportunity to display their thespian, literary or musical skills!

The northernmost of the Kornati Islands on the rally route is Dugi Otok. The port of Sali on the south eastern shore is the original home of many Australian Croats who escaped the oppression of Tito’s communism during the 50’s. An Australian flag in Sali will almost surely attract the attention of a local who has some connection with the Tuna fishing business in Port Lincoln, South Australia. Some have even brought their Tuna farming experience home where they are nearer to the markets of Europe!

The bookend at the northerly end of the rally route is Zadar, just about unknown in Australia but equivalent to Dubrovnik as a surviving example of medieval architecture. Before the coming of the Croats in the 7th century, Venetians, Liburnians, Ilyrians, Celts, Greeks and Romans had left their mark on Zadar, so the old town today offers a walk back thru all these civilizations. Zadar also offers a captivating cultural cocktail and in the summertime there are regular onstage music offerings. Like Dubrovnik, Zadar has been seriously damaged by wars, all be it different wars, and the reconstructed Zadar is maybe better than the first version according to those in the club. Zadar also has the planet’s only organ that’s played continuously by the sea .

Station for the rally will be Biograd na Moru, which sounds strangely Japanese but is actually the modern centre of tourism along this coast. The 700 berth Kornati Marina is home to the fleet of identical Bavaria 47’s that will be used in the rally. The 47 is set up to sail while still offering comfortable accommodation for 6 in three double cabins, with a fourth twin bunk cabin handy for storage and possibly 2 more folk.

For the record the weather statistics show a median maximum of 25C, at least 16C and a standard wind strength of 12 knots during the first two weeks of Sep. The current north-westerly wind follows the thermally driven Maestral pattern with the breeze powering up to a maximum 15 knots from late morning to dusk. The rally programme on the 6 fun-race days will therefore be a mid-day rendezvous at a swim / lunch stop before an afternoon race to the subsequent overnite port of landing in the program. The rest are lay days so there is no rush.

There are no major streams and no huge population centers thru this part of the Dalmatian coast so the sea is famously clean. In early September the water temperature will continue to be a snug 23C and there is no important tidal movement, so truly Kornati ticks all of the boxes, writes tagza.com.

Having latterly launched an American version of the UK’s number one property and travel show, A Place in the Sun, on Discovery’s Speed network, I’m regularly asked what I think the differences are in the American vs the Brit version of this programme. My answers go beyond creative choices in television programming : A Place in the Sun is about exploring the concept of living in another country, in another culture and taking on the escapade of a new lifestyle in a new land.

It is a common perception that North Americans travel overseas less than most Continentals and Australians. This concept that Americans may initially be less enthusiastic to embrace the idea of investing in property, or relocating for some important piece of time in another country, should come as little surprise. Originally, I believed that these hurdles were likely logistical, but the more experience I’ve had in this area, the more That I have recognised that they’re largely mental.

My very own journey continues to teach me that the benefits of overseas travel and exploration completely outweigh the costs and there’s never been a better time for North Americans to rethink what number of their bounds are self-imposed.

According to one study carried out by Expedia, only 38 percent of USA citizens took the holiday time allotted to them in 2010, which is low even by American standards. Without doubt, a high jobless rate and a floundering economy has given to US citizens ‘ anxiety, giving them another “reason” to stay home. It should go without saying that folks who do not even take their vacation days are possibly not excited to venture further outside their comfort zone right now, without some strong support.

My challenge is to remind viewers that people who are far more informed, more aware and more adaptive are overwhelmingly wanted, and rewarded, by companies in a competitive workforce. And, more importantly, I would like to induce my audience the payoff is the point of view gained thru a worldly experience that will lead directly to a rather more satisfied existence overall. I realize that the fundamental format of the show is merely a property search, but the larger picture in each episode is this deeper search.

So , that has been my focus in the revised American format, to concentrate on not just how Northern Americans go about relocating in these various, fascinating, global locations, but why. Accepting an invite into the unexplored means taking on unfamiliar territory, figuratively and literally, and demanding personal growth of one’s self. You learn how to conform and become more aware and informed in the course of any given day’s discoveries. Cultural immersion includes the sort of education that cannot be purchased from books.

No one might have explained to me the spirit of journey in New Zealand, the miraculous sense of the old city of Dubrovnik or the keenness for holistic living I witnessed in Belize. For the short-term money so many believe they’re saving avoiding aeroplane fare, they are forgetting the lower cost of living and regularly higher quality of life that they could be in a position to achieve somewhere else. And while living abroad use to regularly mean being out of touch, in the present day’s wifi-and-Skype world it’s hard to be anywhere that isn’t quickly transformable into a virtual office or remote communication center.

Global relocation doesn’t have to mean leaving your life behind. It suggests taking your life to a whole new level moving forward.

In the final analysis on the North American version A Place in the Sun, I’m guiding a controlled number of clients to foreign countries in the midst of a greater journey that could lead to an investment in a property abroad. What I hope that the larger number of viewers take away from the each episode is a topped curiosity to grow their own horizons and consider what else is out there to experience. I am planning to supply a window to a greater arena of chances. My promise is by using television if you’ll use your vacation days, and I’m hoping we will be able to get re-inspired about both as reported tagza.com.

There are occasions when the US appears an extraordinarily long way from western Europe. Their puzzled TV coverage of the soccer World Cup plays like the work of Venusians. Their taste for cherry-flavoured soft drinks suggests collective derangement.

On a significantly more serious note, that state’s continuing keenness for the death penalty certainly chills the blood. I deserve to be more precise. Capital punishment remains, of course, depressingly popular across the world. Park yourself in a tavern bar or its digital equivalent following any hideous murder and you will most likely, hear any quantity of calls to “bring back hanging”.

In Dublin, Dubrovnik and Dortmund, a good chunk of fantasically reasonable people still seeks the return of that final retribution.

In too many corners of the US nonetheless , preferred will drives the actual destruction of condemned citizens. On Thursday, Troy Davis, found guilty of murder on very shaky evidence, was executed by lethal injection in the state of Georgia. “I am innocent,” Davis declared moments before the needle was applied. “I didn’t have a gun.”

It is fair to indicate that there are fewer executions in the States than you may think. “Only” 46 inmates were put to death in 2010. Bear in mind that a troubling seventeen of those happened in Texas and as well as feeling a touch more concerned about the advance of Governor Rick Perry you’ll admit that the state’s authorities aren’t precisely syringe-crazy. Still, it isn’t a cheerful lot for the estimated 3,250 sitting sweatily on death row.

Few front-line US flesh pressers have made any serious effort to oppose the ultimate penalty. Returning to our opening point about the foreignness of America, it is worth realizing that, in 2007, Barack Obama, then a rising force, wrote that he supported the ultimate penalty in cases “so despicable, so outside the pale, the community is justified in expressing the full measure of its shock by meting out the final punishment”.

Western european readers could notwithstanding the various lawyerly qualifications be forgiven for rubbing their eyes rabidly and looking around to check they’d not been taken to Opposite Land.

At this stage in his career, Obama was being hailed as the fresh face of latt-drinking liberal America. Yet he was supporting a policy that, in western Europe, only parties of the far right include in their manifestos. Welcome to the skinhead fringe, Barack.

The harsh truth is that no US presidential applicant stands an opportunity if she or he doesn’t support capital punishment. It comes as barely a surprise to hear that, at a debate, Perry, a major contender for the Republican nomination, attracted applause when commenting on Texas’s disproportionate taste for murdering its own citizens. It is more sobering to remember Bill Clinton’s noticeable flight back to Arkansas to look at the execution of a mentally impaired black man in the 1992 campaign.

Here’s the point. You could disagree that the conventional American politician’s attitude toward the death penalty demonstrates that country’s firm respect for democracy. In a place that often elects sheriffs, judges and ( beats me ) comptrollers, it might require significant courage some would say arrogance to defy the electorate on such a significant issue. In fact , a Gallup poll disclosed that only twenty-nine per cent of US citizens oppose the ultimate sanction.

And yet. The parliamentary democracies of western Europe have, over the decades, stubbornly, bravely declined to yield to preferred strain on this matter. Naturally, membership of the Council of Europe prohibits individual states from bringing back the death penalty. But there are always votes in stringing up bad guys. Even a futile declaration of desire would appeal to a wide portion of the electorate.

Consider a recent ridiculous play around with popular democracy in Britain. The coalition government promoted the setting up of a domain that would permit visitors to substantiate “e-petitions”. Any satisfactorily popular campaign could, in theory, generate a debate in the House of Commons. Well, you can see where this is heading. Inside a few days, thousands had voted for a discussion on bringing back capital punishment. A 2010 YouGov survey recommended that only 37 per cent of UK citizens would oppose the reinstitution of the death sentence.

Yet there is among MPs, no significant support for a change in the law. Despite latest comments by retired judge Richard Johnson, who requested a return to executions, the situation remains much the same in this fine country.

For once, it behoves us those among us from the bleeding-heart tendency, anyway to tip our hats to the flesh pressers. They’re not all chickens. They don’t always capitulate to the noisiest, angriest voices. The fact that they have declined to reach for the rope does not necessarily mean they’re not listening. It only suggests they really have some moral fibre. Are you listening, Mr Obama?, as reported tagza.com.

One of the most asked for destinations on the Croatian coast is the Makarska in central Dalmatia, with its clean sea, sun-bathed beaches and an entrenched traveller custom. Many visitors from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) visit the area, either for a weekend or full holiday.

An article broadcast in the local newspaper Makarska Riviera, penned by the newspaper’s editor in July, drew negative attention domestically and regionally. The essay, titled Guests that are a Surplus by Ivo Corkovic, claims that “guests from BiH aren’t welcome as they don’t spend sufficient funds, pollute the sea and just occupy space on the beaches”.

Initially the writer addresses the issues in Croatian tourism generally, then turns attention to guests from BiH. Corkovic alludes to holiday makers from BiH as “an elementary disaster which, sadly, can’t be avoided or eliminated”.

The tract drew negative public reaction on each side of the border.

Croatia’s Ministry of Tourism reacted quickly to Corkovic’s article in a press release. “All guests are welcome to Croatia, without reference to their country of origin. There aren’t any first class or second class guests,” Minister of Tourism Damir Bajs claimed. The ministry’s official info states that BiH holiday makers are the second in number after German holiday makers on the Makarska Riviera.

Some BiH guests have bitched they’re treated according to the quantity of money they spend holidaying in Croatia.

“I propose to spend my monthly income in Makarska. I don’t think I am inexpensive, a lot less that I pollute the beach or the sea, but I am bitter to be treated as a less vital tourist,” Stjepan Knezovic from Busovaca announces.

Another BiH tourist, Amela Corbic from Sarajevo asserts, “My family has been coming for holidays in Croatia for years ; it’s a custom (in our family). But this year I am going to go to Turkey. I want to be respected for my money, of which one gets far less in Croatia.”

Due to enormous media interest and public indignation over Corkovic’s article, Croatian President Ivo Josipovic told his reaction calling for equal treatment of Croatia’s holiday makers.

“Every guest is welcome in Croatia, particularly our mates from BiH. Most folks don’t welcome guests according to the thickness of their wallets. Therefore , welcome dear people from Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Josipovic declared.
With Croatia’s tourist season at its peak, the country is trying for every visitor and expectancies run high from this season.

“As a town [Makarska] and country heavily relaying on [income from] tourism, they shouldn’t allow an individual opinion of one newshound destroy their image, particularly considering the [geographical] nearness of tourists from BiH to this area. The difficulty will have a commercial reflection in Makarska this year, and years to come,” Mirza Mehmedovic, BiH communications expert, told SETimes.

BiH ambassador to Croatia Vladimir Raspudic related that Corkovic’s article is offensive but pointed out the position of one individual doesn’t reflect the attitude of all.

“There is no question this article caused damage, but it expresses the position of one individual. I am expecting that local Makarska residents will have a lot to say to the author of this truly unsuitable text, which doesn’t contribute to the development of good relations between BiH and the Republic of Croatia,” writes tagza.com.

Dubrovnik is starting to become a top class dining city, with a range of dining experiences, wonderful locations by the sea and in the country side.

Whether you need to eat in the opulent environment of top modern diners, or like a country setting in nature and conventional dishes, all this is often found in Dubrovnik.

A Regular Mail hack visited Dubrovnik latterly and was happy by its beauty and the delicacies she tasted in its restaurants. ‘The fascinating Croatian port has definitely found its place on the map of A-list European vacation spots It’s clear that this great consequential area and its cultural giant of a city proudly adheres to its traditions but at the same time is nicely transforming itself into a modern and glamorous destination to see and be seen in ‘ – she concluded in the essay.

In Pile, near the sea at the entrance to the Old Town, there is a diner Nautika, considered by many one of the most engaging and most illustrious catering facilities in Croatia.

You can taste the best seafood specialties and selected delicacies there, on the terrace offering an impressive view of the sea and Bokar and Lovrijenac fortresses. Besides glorious service and stress free atmosphere, you should expect excellent selection of foreign and domestic wines.

Nautica is a place where tradition, quality and creativeness combine and create a completely new, “elevated” dimension of the Mediterranean cuisine. Look at the clip below for a sneak preview…

Cafe Proto, set up in 1886. And reconstructed in 2002 is found in the core of the Dubrovnik old city. It continues long tradition of fish dishes prepared in a form of Dubrovnik fishing continues. Quality service and hospitality with a rich selection of local wines will certainly satisfy even the trickiest guests.

Many famous folk have visited it during its long history, and the restaurant boasts with visit of English king Edward VIII, and Mrs.Simpson.

In the era of mobile communications, it is difficult to set aside some time for personal life, friends and family. However , there is a place in the Dubrovnik area that was spared the noise, pollution and crowds.

In the mild Konavle, in greenery of the hundrad years old wood, on the banks of clear streams Ljuta, there’s a eatery where time appears to have stopped. In Konavoski dvori meals are prepared in the exactly same way as ancestors of that area did.

There, you can enjoy the glorious smoked ham, cheese kept in oil, young lamb and veal baked under the iron bell, home-baked bread, griddled trout and other specialities of this famous bistro.

The staff dressed in traditional costumes also contributes to the atmosphere of bygone times. Try the clip below – a visit here will simply resurrect you.

If you find yourself in Dubrovnik at this time of the year be sure to pay a visit to Dubrovnik Summer Holiday when medieval walls of the city host world famous artists as reported tagza.com.

1979 the historic center of Dubrovnik has been included in the UNESCO list of Global Heritage Preservation Sites. There are plenty of famous buildings like Duke’s Palace, a lot of museums, cloisters, churches and some terribly old buildings, like the Arboretum Trsteno, the oldest nursery in the world built in 1492,or the 3rd oldest dispensary in Europe which date is returning to 1317.

The patron of the town is Sveti Vlaho (Saint Blaise). You can see statues and paintings of him round the city. The city’s cathedral is named after him “Saint Blaise”.

The habitants of Dubrovnik are even organising a banquet in honour of Saint Blaise each Feb 3876;7496;.
They celebrate these festivities with Mass, parades and they last several days.
The most significant event in the cultural life of the city is the annual Dubrovnik Summer Holiday.

It’s a traditional holiday where all doors are open for artists to entertain the habitans of Dubrovnik and their guests with games, theatre and concerts (classical & folk music) between tenth of July and 25th of August, since 1950. The Dubrovnik Summer Holiday has been awarded with its first Gold World Trophy for Quality in 2007 and it is signed in the calender of world festivals as one of the most famous cultural festivals in the world since 1956.

The success of the holiday maker season is dependent on those who go on holiday, but also those that work – the guests as well as tour operators. And the results for the first seven months were truly wonderful. Dubrovnik and Dubrovnik-Neretva County reported the 1st, promising results.

Leaders of the town and county tourism proudly point out the inflating tourist arrivals and overnite stays..

Traffic blockages on Dubrovnik streets are tangible proof of accelerating number of arrivals in the 1st seven months of the present year. “9% more tourist arrivals and 7% more overnight stays are realized. We are planning about 10% increase in tourism results,” expounded Jelka Tepisic, director of TZ Dubrovnik.

The results in Dubrovnik-Neretva County are similar. In the first seven months arrivals increased by seven p.c, and overnight stays by five %. Hotel traffic increased by seven %, while the camps and private owners noted a decline of 3 and two p.c.

“The first info shows typically the rise in cash compared against last year, but we’re going to see what will occur with the pricetag side of the total business,” claimed Vladimir Bakic, director of TZ Dubrovnik-Neretva county.

President of Dubrovnik travel agents highlights that the most luxurious hostels achieved the most impressive results and are booked from May to late Sep. Hostels with 5 stars are literally sold out.

“We are achieving very good prices and according to the situation as it is now, a recession has passed,” claimed Luca Baca from Grand Villa Argentina – a beautiful villa found in an exclusive area, near the important middle of Dubrovnik.

The most plush hostels forecast even better ends in August and Sep,writes tagza.com.
